The Falkland Islands are an archipelago consisting of two large islands (West Falkland and East Falkland), and 776 smaller islands. The islands are situated roughly 250 nautical miles east of southern Argentina, in the South Atlantic. They are a British Overseas Territory, though Argentina maintains a claim to the islands.
